Is there an Application for Admissions deadline?
LTC continuously accepts applications for admission. However, in order to ensure adequate time to process your application and for you to complete the college and program admissions requirements, we have set July 1 for fall start and November 1 for spring start as a guideline for applying.

I applied to LTC in the past. Do I need to repay my application fee?
If you applied prior to July 1, 1998, you would need to pay the $30 application fee again. If you applied after July 1, 1998 and already paid your application fee, you do not need to pay it again.

I previously paid a $30 application fee to another Wisconsin Technical college. Do I need to pay it again?
Yes. An application fee needs to be paid to each technical college you apply to.

LTC requested a copy of my transcripts. Can I just send you a copy of the one I have?
No. We require all transcripts to be OFFICIAL. In order for it to be considered official, it needs to be in a sealed envelope directly from your school.

I graduated from High School 15+ years ago. Do you still need my high school transcript?
Yes, Transcripts are required for admission to the college. Some programs may even require a High School transcript to remain accredited. Contact your High School and have them send the transcript directly to LTC. (If you name has changed since graduation, be sure to remind your school to write your new name on your transcript.)

Will a GED or HSED be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma?
Yes. LTC can help you earn a GED or HSED. Click here for more information.

Do I need to take an entrance assessment to be admitted to LTC and my program?
LTC requires a placement assessment, which will give you scores based on your current skill level in writing, reading and math. LTC administers the ACCUPLACER or accepts ACT scores to fulfill this requirement. General Education courses and each program require specific scores, and your scores will help determine your educational path. Required scores can be found on your individual program guide.

Is there a fee to take LTC's placement assessment, ACCUPLACER?
LTC administers ACCUPLACER and the cost is $20. There is no charge for high school students if taken in their high school. There is no charge for these apprentices: Industrial Electrical, Machinist, Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright, Metal Fabricator, and Tool and Die. The entire assessment or individual sections can be taken three times in three years. Retakes are $10.

When can I take the ACCUPLACER?

Is there information available to help me practice for the ACCUPLACER?
Yes. Click here for sample questions, study guides and online resources.

Do I need to be admitted to a program to take classes
No. Anyone can register for General Studies classes. However, if it is your intention to complete a program, it is to your benefit to submit an application for admissions as soon as possible. (Some program classes may require program admission for registration.)

How do I know if a program has a wait list?
Due to space restrictions, we are required to limit the number of people that can be admitted to each program. Admission is based on a first-come, first-serve basis as college and program admission requirements are met. If your final requirement is met AFTER the limit for your program has been met, you will be put on a wait list for the next available opening. Please contact Admissions for specific program wait list information.

What number am I on the program wait list?
Because the wait list situation can change daily, it is LTC’s policy not to notify students of their specific number on the wait list. You will be advised of an APPROXIMATE semester in which you can reasonably expect to start your program.

How do I know if I’ve been admitted to a program?
Once you have completed all college and program admissions requirements, you will receive a letter indicating you have been admitted. (Please allow 5 – 10 days for processing and mail.)

Can I take classes at another technical college and have them count towards my program at LTC?
Most General Studies classes will transfer between technical colleges. Because program classes are usually very specific to the program that you are attending, they may not transfer. Please check with your program counselor before you register for classes.

I’ve already taken some of my General Education classes at another college. Will they transfer to my program at LTC?
Contact your college and have them send an OFFICIAL copy of your transcript to LTC. Once they have arrived, schedule an appointment with your program counselor for transcript review.

When can I register for classes?
Once you have been admitted to your program, you will receive information regarding registration dates and times. If you are not admitted to a program and would like to take a class, you will be allowed to register with the general public.
