GOAL GED/HSED/High School Credit
What's the Difference?
GED
You can earn a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED)
by participating in an orientation session, taking a career awareness
class, and successfully completing the five GED tests. The tests
focus on writing, social studies, interpreting literature and the
arts (reading) and math. The Certificate of GED can be used to qualify
for employment or various technical school programs, but it's not
considered a high school equivalency in Wisconsin.
HSED
You can earn the High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) by successfully
completing the Certificate of GED requirements, as well as requirements
in health, civic literacy and employability skills. The HSED is
considered equivalent to a high school diploma in the state of Wisconsin.
High School Credit
If you're a few credits short of completing your high school diploma
requirements, this may be the option for you. High school credit
classes are available on a supervised independent study basis. To
register for High School Credit classes at LTC
Sheboygan, the form identifying which classes are needed must be
signed by the school principal or designee from your current or
former high school.
