CLEVELAND, WI –
Lakeshore Technical College has been named a Military Friendly School for 2010 by G.I. Jobs magazine.
The recognition ranks LTC in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide. The decision was based on years of research, survey result compilation and analysis of other data.
"We are honored to receive this recognition and know that being named a military friendly school will let veterans know that we are here to help," said LTC President Mike Lanser. "Lakeshore Technical College is committed to strengthening the relationships we have with our service men and women, and we look forward to helping prepare them for the brightest future imaginable."
The LTC Veterans Resource Team, comprised of staff and faculty who are active duty or are veterans of the armed forces, is an invaluable resource and an integral part of the college's efforts in serving military students.
Additionally, the LTC Student Veterans Association provides services to veterans and military members to assist in their transition from military to campus life. The group provides a welcoming environment to get information, gain skills and ask questions, as well as offers a wide range of information and events for networking opportunities.
"It was important for LTC to establish a Student Veteran Association to provide resources and networking opportunities to our growing population of veteran students, as well as educate the community on the needs of veterans," said Corey Givens-Novak, LTC financial aid manager and LTC Veterans Resource Team member.
LTC also offers services to veterans in the form of admissions and counseling, financial aid, learner support and disability services, and minority services. Information about the Federal GI Bill, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, and Wisconsin Tuition Programs for Veterans, Qualifying Spouses and Children is available at the college's financial aid office.
"You should take great pride in receiving this honor," G.I. Jobs Publisher Rich McCormack said in the announcement. "On behalf of the 8 million military members and veterans seeking a school, I thank you for your commitment to educating our nation's most deserving heroes."
