LTC responds to Cedar Grove-Belgium community survey with business, computer, photography courses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1/15/2010

CLEVELAND, WI –

Responding to the results of a fall 2009 survey of Cedar Grove-Belgium area residents, Lakeshore Technical College is offering a business startup seminar this month at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

The survey revealed 77 percent of those interested in business courses wanted to learn more about starting a small business. Now aspiring entrepreneurs in the Cedar Grove-Belgium area can begin to determine whether their idea is feasible and explore key factors in starting a business during a free, one-hour Business Building Blocks information session.

The seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in room 102 at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School, 321 North Second St., Cedar Grove. Attendees should enter by the district office. To register, call Kristin Bell Abell at (920) 693-1658 or e-mail kristin.abell@gotoltc.edu. Abell also plans to offer free entrepreneurship counseling sessions by appointment only at the high school.

LTC's Cedar Grove community education site opened in fall 2009 at the high school with four class offerings in beginning computer skills. Five additional courses are being offered this spring, including Digital Pictures 1, Computers: Word Level 1, Computers: Word Level 2, Internet Basics and Beyond, and Internet Buying and Selling. Scheduling and registration information is available at www.gotoltc.edu/outreach.

LTC officials also looked to the survey results to define fall 2010 course offerings at the Cedar Grove site, which will include Excel 1, Excel 2 and PowerPoint courses. Hunter Education and EMT Basic courses currently are being considered, and survey respondents also have indicated strong interest in first aid, medical terminology and psychology.

LTC will repeat the community survey every three years to determine changing education needs. Individuals can send requests or suggestions at any time to Community Education Liaison Dawn Holycross at dawn.holycross@gotoltc.edu.
