LTC offering training seminar for wind energy access and rescue

CLEVELAND, WI –
Lakeshore Technical College is offering a new seminar this spring directed at individuals who work at height on wind turbines and need a method of rescue and evacuation.
The Wind Energy Safe Access and Rescue seminar is designed around the specific requirements of the wind energy industry and deals with access to a turbine using personal safety and rescue equipment. During the course, students are taught the dangers of working at height; how to use lanyards, fall arrest harnesses and positioning equipment; and learn the correct method of dealing with emergencies, including suspension trauma and rescue.
All delegates who successfully complete training will receive certification in Wind Energy Safe Access and Rescue valid for two years. This certification is valuable for qualified tower climbers looking for work or wanting to keep up their certification, as well as for newly hired tower climbers who want to add to their qualifications.
The two-day seminar is being offered twice this spring: from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 2 and 3, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 6 and 7. The March class is number 28006, and the April class number is 28007. The cost for the seminar is $599.
Fall protection training is a prerequisite to this seminar.
All students will be expected to rescue and be rescued, have a comprehensive understanding of issued Personal Protective Equipment, and have a basic knowledge of the cause, effect, symptoms and how to deal with suspension trauma. Students must be medically and physically fit.

This seminar is offered as part of a partnership with ENSA Access and Rescue - a nationally recognized training company in the tower climbing industry - to offer access, rescue and confined space training for companies that build and maintain wind and communication towers.
