LTC to Offer Concealed Carry Safety and Workplace Active Shooter Seminars

Lakeshore Technical College is offering two training seminars on public safety in February at its Cleveland Campus.

The first seminar being offered is the Firearm Safety for Concealed Carry License course which will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 8am – noon at Lakeshore Technical College in the Public Safety Building.

Participants will learn the basics of firearm safety and state requirements for carrying a concealed weapon. The course also provides an overview of handgun safety practices, but is designed as a firearm safety course. The class meets Wisconsin’s education requirements for acquiring a state permit to carry concealed weapons. The cost for this class is $75.

The second seminar LTC is offering is Active Shooter and Workplace Violence.  The seminar will be held on Tuesday, February 11 from 12:30-4:30pm on the Cleveland campus in the Public Safety building.

The seminar will address school and workplace violence, with a major emphasis on the active shooter.  Participants will learn how to respond to threats, what to expect from law enforcement’s response, what to teach your children about the immediate actions to take when confronted by an active shooter and what plans businesses and citizens should have in place in case an incident would occur.

The seminar is designed for everyone, especially parents and those in the business and school community. It will help participants know what to do when confronted with an active shooter.  The cost of the class is $89.

The instructor for both seminars, Jason Wilterdink, has 15 years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.  In addition to his experience as a Law Enforcement Officer, he is currently a full-time instructor at LTC, a master instructor in use of force, and certified by several organizations as a firearms instructor and has served as an instructor and expert witness in self-defense, training, safety, security, health, wellness, and fitness.
