FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLEVELAND, WI –
Lakeshore Technical College is offering the Substance Abuse and Its Effects on Job Safety Seminar, on Thursday, December 18 from 8am - 12noon at Lakeshore Technical College in the Cleveland Training Room.
This seminar is designed to give a basic understanding of substance abuse, and the knowledge to recognize it in the workplace. The costs to business in workplace productivity, employee injuries and work comp claims are estimated to be in the billions each year. Many employers believe that drug testing provides all of the necessary results for disciplinary procedures and protects them from civil liabilities; however this is not the case as many substances are not or cannot be tested for accurately.
The key for employers is to be able to recognize the sign and symptoms associated with drug use in their employees and to recognize the paraphernalia associated with drug use.
Instructor Joe Keil is a 24-year veteran of law enforcement. Keil became a K-9 handler in 1997. He and his K-9 partner Gus, made thousands of drug arrests resulting in the seizure of over $750,000 in cash, controlled substances and vehicle seizures from various cases.
Keil has written numerous newspaper and magazine articles on drug-related issues including trends, physiology of the human body and substance abuse, K9s and their usage during traffic stops. Keil is a published author of the book, When Just Say No Doesn’t Work, a comprehensive guide to recognizing substance abuse.
The cost of the seminar is $120 and the class number is 63838. To register by phone with credit card, call 1.888.GO TO LTC (1.888.468.6582) Ext. 1366. For questions or detailed information, visit http://www.gotoltc.edu/seminars or call Ruth at 920.693.1167, or e-mail at email@example.com.
