FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLEVELAND, WI –
Lakeshore Technical College is offering a Safety in Agriculture seminar on Saturday, February 11 from 8am – noon at Plymouth High School in Room C118.
Thousands of farm workers are injured every year and hundreds more die in farming accidents. According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the nation. OSHA has been increasing inspections and enforcement in the agricultural sector. This seminar will help participants know the proper steps ahead of time to reduce the potential of an accident and an OSHA inspection.
This seminar will include an overview of OSHA, basic OSHA record keeping requirements, common citation hazards and how to minimize or eliminate exposure, and common standards and how you can better prepare for an OSHA inspection.
The seminar is designed for farm owners, operators, supervisors, human resources, or employees who have responsibility over or interest in the safety and well-being of employees.
The instructor, Ben Nickel, earned his bachelor's degree, Health Promotion and Safety and Health Protection, at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Nickel has expertise in OSHA compliance and is an approved OSHA 10/30 instructor as well as a Safety and Rescue instructor at Lakeshore Technical College.
