President's Biography

Dr. Paul Carlsen became LTC’s 4th President on July 1, 2017. He is responsible for all college operations and leads a dedicated, student-focused team of 400+ faculty and staff who each make significant contributions to the education of the 11,000+ students served by LTC every year.

Prior to joining the LTC team, Paul was the Chief Content Officer for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System and an adjunct instructor of American Government at River Parishes Community College. Before working in higher education, Paul served as the Chief Workforce Economist for Louisiana Economic Development (LED) FastStart and as Statistical and Research Analyst at the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

Paul and his wife, Christina, are the proud parents to two young daughters. Paul and his family enjoy traveling, watching cartoons, sledding, and exploring new adventures.

Paul holds a BA from the University of Colorado, an MPP from the University of Denver, and a PhD from the University of Georgia. Paul’s research has been published in Historical Methods, Southern Economic Journal, and Journal of Early American History.
