Turkey Trot

Welcome to Turkey Trot, the healthy, fun way to start your holidays. The month-long aerobic event may be just the motivation you need to stay active through the holidays and all winter long.

Your goal is to participate in aerobic activity for 500 minutes or more in 30 days. Aim for 30-60 minutes of continuous aerobic activity four or more days a week - activities that increase your heart rate and breathing and can be performed continuously for 10 minutes or more.

Sign up today in the College Nurses Office, L-178 or call X-1111.

The $3 registration fee will be used for prizes.

Do You Have "Claus-Trophobia"? The fear of looking like Santa Claus after the holidays!

If you answered, YES, don't worry---you're not alone. The not so merry news is that the little bit of weight we gain each year can happen during the holidays. Those few pounds add up over the years. BUT, THIS YEAR COULD BE DIFFERENT!!!

Sign up for WEIGH TO GO and get a handle on your holiday consumption habits. It is a unique challenge to maintain your weight over the holidays. All you have to do is weigh in before Thanksgiving and again after New Year's Day. In between those holidays, I'll provide you with information, tips, and ideas on "how to" manage those behaviors that have gotten you into trouble in the past.

Challenge Yourself!!! Maintain your weight over the holidays within two pounds of your starting weight. Don't let the holidays weigh on you all year long. Register by attending the Pre-holiday Weigh-In.

Strong Bones Class

Join in this fun, strength training program. Each class includes progressive weight training, flexibility, and balance activities.

Tuesdays & Thursdays, August 29 to December 21, 2017, 4 pm – 5 pm in Centennial Hall East

$20 for the series, due at first class, or drop in and try it for $2!!

Erin Souik is a Registered Yoga Teacher. Erin is trained in both Vinyasa and Hot Yoga styles and focuses on building strength and balance with her students while teaching the deeper connection to breath and personal intention.

Yoga is an integral part of Erin's life, and she looks forward to sharing the beauty of this practice with you.

Classes will meet in Centennial Hall West at LTC, Thursdays 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, September 7th – December 14th

Wellness Center

The Wellness Center is an unsupervised exercise center that is open to current students, current staff and family members of staff, LTC retirees, and Village of Cleveland residents, free of charge. The Wellness Center Policy includes guidelines, dress code, and a release of all claims form. Participants need to review and sign forms in the school nurses office and complete an orientation session before use.

Hours of use:
Mon - Thur7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Friday7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sat & Sun7:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Equipment available: Tread Mills, Elliptical Trainers, Exercise Bikes, Climb Max Stair Stepper, Abdominal Crunch Machine, Low Row Machine, Leg Press, Pec/Rear Delt, High Row/Lat Pull-down, Leg Extension/Leg Curl, Shoulder Press, Rotary Torso, Seated Arm Curl, Seated Bench Press, Inner/Outer Thigh, High/Low Pulley, Fitness Tree and Hyper-extension Unit, Free Weights – 1#-50# with bench, Jump Ropes, Yoga Balls, and Floor Mats.

Drinking Water, TV/ VCR & Stereo, Locker Room with showers available.

College Health Services

The college nurse is available for emergency and first-aid care or treatment of minor illness until you can get home or to a physician, blood pressure checks, physical fitness and exercise, TB skin testing, and body fat analysis. A sick room is available if you are not feeling well. We are able to provide Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Antacid, Imodium AD, Benadryl, Decongestant, Bacitracin, cough drops, & Hydrocortisone cream. Services are FREE.
