Lakeshore College Reaccredited as Welding Test Facility

It’s one of only four in Wisconsin.

The American Welding Society has certified Lakeshore College meets all requirements to continue operating as an accredited welding test facility in Wisconsin. The college became accredited in 2020 and has since granted 159 AWS certifications to welders from Wisconsin and other states.

“Serving as an AWS accredited test facility for Wisconsin and outlying states fills a need among employers and adds another layer of welding certification available at our college,” said David Saunders, Lakeshore College’s certified welding educator and weld test conductor for the state of Wisconsin. “Many employers choose in-house or state-level certifications when they do not need or want that worldwide level of AWS certification, and our expert testing team is happy to meet their needs, too.”

Saunders added the testing team has granted almost 300 certifications across all levels in the past 18 months.

The AWS is recognized worldwide as the leader in certification programs for the welding industry. Welders with AWS certifications have more opportunities to earn higher wages and take on higher level responsibilities. AWS certifications also allows welders to carry their certifications with them globally, further enhancing their career opportunities.
