Carlsen to Co-Chair National Commission on Small and Rural Colleges

Lakeshore Technical College President Dr. Paul Carlsen has been named by the American Association of Community Colleges as co-chair of its Small and Rural Colleges Commission for the 2024-25 term.

The AACC is a national advocacy organization representing more than 1,000 two-year community colleges across the country that serve nearly 12 million students. The commission will offer advice and counsel on trends and issues impacting small and rural colleges, as well as highlight innovative practices in those colleges that can serve as models for other institutions.

“Colleges like Lakeshore play a unique, anchoring role in the small, rural communities we serve. I look forward to working with leaders from similar colleges across the country to find shared efficiencies and common policy objectives that will support student success in our communities,” says Carlsen.
