CLEVELAND, WI —

The Child Care Center located at Lakeshore Technical College’s Cleveland campus has earned a 5-Star rating, the highest available, from YoungStar. YoungStar is the quality rating and improvement system used by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families to rate regulated childcare providers.

The Child Care Center at Lakeshore Technical College provides comprehensive care for children ages 2 to 6 years whose parents are students or staff at Lakeshore, or area residents. There are 18 children enrolled this semester.

“Finding quality child care is incredibly challenging today for parents who work and/or go to school. This rating shows parents they can be assured their children are receiving the highest quality of care when they bring them to our Child Care Center,” says Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen.

YoungStar rates providers every two years based on staff education and training, learning environment and curriculum, business and professional practices, and children’s health and well-being. To increase the Child Care Center’s previous 4-Star rating, staff completed additional educational and meeting requirements and received an increase in its observation rating.

The Child Care Center is one of only two childcare providers in Manitowoc County earning the 5-Star rating.
