CLEVELAND, WI —

Students in the Professional Agricultural Students Club at Lakeshore Technical College fared well at spring national and state competitions, continuing the college’s tradition of excelling at these competitive events.

“Our students are keenly aware Lakeshore is consistently a contender at these competitions, so they take their coursework seriously and we practice as much as possible,” said Lakeshore Agribusiness Science and Technology/Dairy Herd Instructor and PAS Club Advisor Craig Lallensack. “Keeping our tradition of winning is important to our students and college.”

At the 2022 National PAS Organization Conference, which took place in Minneapolis, approximately 300 students from two- and four-year colleges across the country competed. Following close finishes in recent years, Lakeshore placed first in the Dairy Specialist team competition, topping colleges including Iowa State University and Southern Illinois University. The team included Colin DeYoung, Alex Diersen, and Elizabeth Benicke. In individual competitions, Diersen placed second in Dairy Specialist and Dairy Specialist Employment Interview.

Students from Lakeshore and technical colleges across the state attended the 2022 State PAS Organization Conference virtually. In individual competitions, Diersen placed first in the Dairy Specialist Employment Interview. In the Dairy Specialist competition, Lily Charapata placed fourth and Elizabeth Benicke fifth. Brenden Wenzel placed fifth in the Ag Equipment Servicing Employment Interview. Lakeshore teams placed second, third, and seventh in the Dairy Specialist competition, and fifth and seventh in the College Bowl competition.

“It is truly amazing to support our students throughout their programs and watch them put all they learn in class and out in the field together to compete and problem-solve as some of the best students in the state and country,” said Lallensack.
