Lakeshore Technical College Agribusiness & Dairy Students Compete at State, Regional, and National Conferences
Students place first at Midwest Dairy Challenge, defeating UW-Madison.

CLEVELAND, WI —
Lakeshore Technical College saw its agribusiness science and technology students and dairy herd management students place as high as first in competitions this year. Competitions were held virtually as part of the Midwest Regional Dairy Challenge, the State Professional Agricultural Students Organization Conference, and the National Professional Agricultural Students Organization Conference.
“The competition our students face during these educational events is always extremely challenging. Competing virtually threw a whole new twist into things and we are extremely proud of the success our students achieved,” said Craig Lallensack, dairy/agribusiness instructor and Professional Agricultural Students Organization advisor.
Lakeshore’s team placed first in the Midwest Regional Dairy Challenge, which featured teams from technical and four-year colleges including the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Kansas State University. Team members included: Kelsie Bramstedt, Newton; Lily Charapata, Coleman; Colin DeYoung, Kewaskum; Alexis Doege, Brillion; Ariel Johanek, Two Rivers; and Emily Kroll, Mishicot.
Several Lakeshore teams and individual students competed in events during the State Professional Agricultural Students Organization Conference. Lakeshore’s participation in the interview and dairy specialist events resulted in second, fourth, seventh, and 10th place finishes out of 16 teams. Members of the dairy specialist team placing second included Charapata, Kroll, and Leah Schilke, Denmark. Two Lakeshore College Bowl teams competed among 24 teams; one Lakeshore team advanced to the finals and placed second. Members of the team included: Doege; Christian Gierach, West Bend; Ryan Hecker, Kiel; Makayla Heise, Cedarburg; and Johanek.
During the National Professional Agricultural Students Organization Conference, one Lakeshore team competed in the dairy specialist event, placing third. Team members included Bramsteadt, Charapata, and Kroll.
