CLEVELAND, WI —

When it comes to openness and responsiveness to adult students, Lakeshore Technical College is among the top in the nation. Washington Monthly, a bimonthly nonprofit magazine of U.S. politics and government based in Washington, D.C. placed LTC in the number three spot in their national ranking of Best Two-Year Colleges for Adult Learners.

In addition to noting that LTC is top-notch at meeting the needs of adult learners, the ranking highlighted how well adult students fare once they graduate from LTC.

“Although LTC serves over 10,000 learners each year, we are a relatively small college on the national stage. Receiving this type of national recognition demonstrates that quality, innovation and student outcomes trump the size or location of the institution,” said LTC President Paul Carlsen.

LTC had the highest ranking of any two-year college in Wisconsin.

The Washington Monthly rankings are constructed based on ease of transfer/enrollment, flexibility of programs, services available for adult students, percent of adult students (age 25+) at the college, mean earnings of adult students ten years after entering college, loan repayment rates of adult students five years after entering repayment, and tuition and fees for in-district students.

“Lakeshore Technical College is among the institutions doing the best job of helping adult students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices,” said Paul Glastris, editor-in-chief of Washington Monthly. “We hope other colleges are inspired to follow the example Lakeshore Technical College has set—that's why we highlight these programs.”
