Lakeshore Technical College Student Government Association Creates Scholarships for Veterans

CLEVELAND, WI —

The LTC Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Team recently helped establish the “Our Stars” Scholarship for Student Veterans and held a Support Our Stars fundraiser to directly fund the new scholarship.

The SGA team designed stars that could be purchased to honor veterans, and displayed the stars in the LTC cafeteria. Support Our Stars was held during the week of November 6-10, 2017 with the initial goal of raising $500. The team raised over $700 that week.

“The SGA team wanted to do something that would directly benefit veterans who are LTC students,” said Tammie Stahl, student engagement specialist/SGA advisor. “We also wanted it to be a legacy service project that will continue to be a focus of the LTC SGA annually.”

The “Our Stars” Scholarship will be awarded in the fall of each year with the first scholarships being awarded in 2018. One $500 scholarship will be distributed as well as one $250 scholarship. New and returning student veterans who have been honorably discharged from the military are eligible for the scholarship. Complete eligibility criteria can be found at gotoltc.edu.

Donations to the “Our Stars” Scholarship are appreciated year-round. Contact Katie Willinger, LTC Foundation director, for more information at 920.693.1247.
