LTC Executes Preventative Lockdown

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

3/23/2018

CLEVELAND, WI —

At approximately 7:40 am this morning, LTC went into preventative lockdown due to a perceived threat in the area.  The college adopted this procedure as part of its safety protocol to ensure the safety of students and staff. During a preventative lockdown, individuals are not permitted to enter or exit campus buildings.

All classes and events at the college were cancelled for Friday, March 23rd.  Students and staff were notified of the lockdown through its emergency text alert system, the college website and social media.  In addition, the college communicated regularly throughout the lockdown through multiple channels.

LTC President Paul Carlsen said, “It is incumbent on us as a large, public institution to take any and all threats seriously and to implement our safety procedures.  Our first concern is always for the students, staff and guests on our campus. I am reassured by the swift action taken by our staff and LTC campus police to implement our security measures.”

The lockdown was lifted at approximately 11:12 am and the campus closed at 11:30 am.  The campus will resume normal operations as scheduled for tomorrow.
