LTC to Offer Continuing Education Seminars for Insurance Agents

CLEVELAND, WI —

Lakeshore Technical College is offering a series of continuing education seminars for insurance agents beginning in February. Each seminar will provide four continuing education credit hours.

The first seminar, Long Term Care Partnership Recertification, will be held February 2, 2018 from 8:00 am until noon. This seminar begins with a discussion of the long term care product evolution and the current market. The long term care policy and the partnership plan is discussed in detail. It then moves to a discussion of Medicare and Medicaid and its relationship to the long term care partnership plan. Suitability standards, compliance issues and training under the new partnership program will be discussed. The class will conclude with alternatives to purchasing long term care insurance.

This seminar will be held in the Manitowoc County Training Room on the Cleveland campus and the cost is $65.  The class number is 25608.

The second seminar, Ethics 1, will be held February 2 from 12:30 until 4:30 pm. This seminar provides insurance agents with training to maintain licensing by identifying issues affecting the industry and the public's perception of insurance; explain ethical practices in analyzing sales, marketing, and business; discuss federal and state regulations; relate to the agent's responsibilities/fiduciary obligations to carriers; cite the code of ethics; and discuss licensing, full disclosure, due care in policy illustrations/misrepresentation, and slander of their agents/companies.

This seminar will be held in the Manitowoc County Training Room on the Cleveland campus and the cost is $65.  The class number is 25609.

The third seminar, Trends in Long Term Care Insurance, will be held March 6 from 8:00 am until noon. This new seminar begins with an understanding of what long term care is and how long term care insurance can fill the void. A discussion of why people buy long term care insurance ensues. Trends in long term care and long term care insurance will be covered. New products will be discussed, with examples. The class will conclude with explaining the options an insured will have when their premiums are increased.

This seminar will be held in the Manitowoc County Training Room on the Cleveland campus and the cost is $65.  The class number is 25610.

The final seminar in the series, Life Insurance Basics, will be held March 6 from 12:30 until 4:30 pm. This seminar is designed to provide training for insurance agents to maintain licensing.  You will learn and discuss the role of each of the following in selling and administering life insurance in today’s market and why people purchase a particular type; history, purpose, term and permanent insurance; policy riders; policy provisions; and settlement options.
