LTC to Offer New Child Care Continuing Education Series

CLEVELAND, WI —

Lakeshore Technical College is offering a series of child care continuing education seminars beginning this February. Seminars are open to anyone interested and are geared toward child care professionals. Childcare professionals can receive continuing education credit and must bring their registry number to receive credit.  All classes have been approved for Tier 2 continuing education credit with The Registry. Individuals may attend one or all of the seminars.

The first seminar in the series is “Discovering Science: The Laboratory of Life.” This seminar will be held February 26 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. This seminar will provide training to early care and education providers on how to incorporate science concepts into their programs. The class number is 26465.

The second seminar is “Self-Regulation Starts with You.” This seminar will be held March 26 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. This presentation is based on the book Managing Emotional Mayhem, by Dr. Becky Bailey. The class number is 24970.

The third seminar is “Books and Cooks: Connecting Literacy and Healthy Habits.” The Books and Cooks workshop will provide information on connecting children’s books with cooking, eating healthy foods, tips and tricks for cooking with children, and children-friendly recipes. This seminar will be held April 30 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. The class number is 26218.

The fourth seminar is “Challenging Behaviors: Data Collection and Strategies.” This seminar teaches how to do a Functional Behavior Assessment and collect data on challenging behavior to make a plan to decrease and eventually extinct the behavior and replace it with appropriate behaviors. This seminar will be held May 21 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. The class number is 24972.

The instructors for the series of seminars are Terri Schultz, Polly Kaat, and Stephanie Winkel. 

All seminars in the series will take place at LTC’s Cleveland campus in the Wells Fargo Conference Room.
