Medical Assistant Bridge to Practical Nursing
Lakeshore has a three-step Admissions/Enrollment college application process for all Nursing bound students.
Step One:
- Complete the admissions requirement to get accepted into the college.
Step Two:
- Complete the class registration requirements to enroll into general education courses.
Step Three:
- Complete the program requirements to be accepted into the Bridge pathway.
Verification of employment as a Medical Assistant is one of the requirements to get into the program. An MA must have earned MA certification/registration and worked 3,000 hours within the past 3 years. If not credentialed, an MA must provide verification of 6,000 hours of employment within the past 3 years.
It is mandatory that all of the Practical Nursing general education classes be completed prior to starting the MA Bridge to PN classes. A grade of C or better is required in all classes, with the exception of Body Structure and Function, where a grade of B or better is required.
The MA Bridge to PN pathway is a summer-only entry. Classes are offered in the evenings, however, a few Saturdays may be required. Seats are limited.
