The Lift Up Lakeshore program serves students, no matter where they are on their educational journey. At LTC, we offer a wide range of learning options, especially for adults. We help you start at the level that’s best for you, no matter how long you have been in school before, or how long you have been out of school.
Lift Up services are designed to prepare you for a higher paying job or for college.
- English Language Learning (ELL) classes
English Language Learning (ELL) classes are available for students whose primary language is not English. Students learn Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking English at a variety of levels. Classes are available Monday-Friday morning and Monday-Thursday evening. Students can choose to attend class 2, 3, or more days a week. Students can also enroll in both ELL classes and work on their high school credential. Some students attend college and attend ELL classes for language support. General Advisors meet with students for career planning and transitioning to college or employment.Classes for ELL are primarily located at LTC Manitowoc and LTC Sheboygan. ONLINE classes are also available in an easy to follow, easy to join format. ELL open lab classes are also provided on the main campus to support students in college programs. All instruction and materials are free for students.

- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program gives students, at any educational level, the tools they need to be successful in life. Basic Reading, Writing, Math, and Computer Skills, along with Study Skills, Career Services, and Civics education is taught for those needing to brush up on their skills or who find they need to begin with the basics. All instruction and materials are free for students.
- Adult Secondary Education (ASE)
The Adult Secondary Education (ASE) program is for students who are wanting to earn their high school diploma. No matter what the reason, no matter how long it has been since that last high school class was taken, LTC works with adult students to help them earn their high school credential. Many options are available.

LTC helps students prepare for the four GED exams. Exams are in the areas of:
- Social Studies
- English Language Arts
Similar to the GED, the HSED is an exam-based path to the high school credential.
Students prepare and take the four GED exams. In addition, students take Employability Skills and Health to complete the diploma.
LTC provides a course-based option to earn a high school credential. In the HSED 5.09 program, students take coursework in:
- Communication Skills
- Computer Basics
- Pre College Math
- Pre Algebra
- Social Studies
- Employability Skills
Previous high school credit is taken into consideration. Math and Communications courses align to LTC’s pathway into college, allowing graduates to easily transition to college.
Other alternatives are available. All high school credentialing programs require the Wisconsin state civics exam.

Are you interested in attending college, but do not have your high school diploma? You can do both! LTC’s GED/HSED Plus College program allows students to enroll in both the GED/HSED/HSED 5.09 program at the same time as taking college courses. Students are provided academic support, intensive advising, and can earn both their high school and college credential at the same time. Classes for ELL are primarily located at LTC Manitowoc and LTC Sheboygan. ONLINE classes are also available in an easy to follow, easy to join format.
