Basic Skills

Everyone needs a little help now and then. If you are looking to review, learn or improve basic academic skills, read on. Lakeshore offers courses on basic reading, English, and social and physical sciences, as well as writing, math, and computer skills, giving you what you need to do better on the job or in school. At Lakeshore you can really get the basics to help you get ahead.

English as a Second Language

In this course you'll learn how to speak, read, and write in English, plus learn valuable job skills. Some of the classes are taught in the traditional classroom setting. We also offer software programs that let you learn at your own pace. Not only will you learn how to speak, read, and write in English, you'll also learn basic employment skills, math, keyboarding, and information for citizenship.

High School Completion

Now you can complete your high school degree with our Certificate of General Education Development (GED), High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Credit program.

Workshops and Structured Classes

Lakeshore has many opportunities for both employed and unemployed adults to sharpen their skills and acquire more marketable skills. As a participant you'll work with other adults in small group settings to accomplish such goals as completing high school or improving reading, writing, math, and word processing skills. We'll also help you bolster your work-world survival skills by giving you tips on how to interview, the best way to fill out a job application, and other job-hunting tips. You'll also learn stress- and time-management techniques and how to better balance responsibilities of work, school, and family.
