Mariah's Role and Responsibilities:
As a Dual Credit Advisor, I provide guidance and counsel to students designed to assist
them in making decisions associated with their academic and/or career goals using a
variety of resources appropriate to students’ needs. I conduct one-on-one or group
advising sessions with students to address academic and personal concerns, create action
plans for student success, and maintain relevant records to student profiles and
progress. In addition, I proactively collaborate with high schools in Manitowoc County,
Lakeshore college-wide departments, faculty, tutors, and academic support staff to
advocate, identify, and meet the academic needs of dual credit students.
Mariah's Educational Background:
I went to University of Northwestern – St Paul and received a Bachelor of Science degree
in Non-Profit Leadership and two minors in Business Administration and Marketing. I also
received a Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership with an emphasis in Human Services.
It’s important to work with a Dual Credit Advisor because:
we are responsible for helping students choose and enroll in Lakeshore Technical College
courses. We provide guidance to dual credit students through career development
activities and work collaboratively with high school partners (school counselors, career
liaisons, transition coordinators, etc.) and Lakeshore staff to identify and address
barriers that may stop students from achieving academic success.
Mariah's Coverage:
I work with schools in Manitowoc County (Hilbert, Kiel, Manitowoc Lincoln, Manitowoc
Lutheran, Mishicot, Reedsville, Roncalli, Two Rivers, and Valders High School), three
schools in Sheboygan County (Etude, Warriner, and Sheboygan Central High School), and
out of district high schools.
