Drive-Through & Virtual Events Set for Lakeshore Technical College’s December 19 Graduation

CLEVELAND, WI —
Almost 200 Lakeshore Technical College students will be awarded degrees and technical diplomas on Saturday, December 19. A virtual event will stream on Lakeshore’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 10 am, followed by a drive-through event on the college’s Cleveland campus from 11 am to 1 pm.
“Our December graduates have successfully overcome more obstacles than any class before them, and we are honored to have been part of their educational journeys,” said Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen. “We encourage our graduates to celebrate their success during the virtual and drive-through celebrations we have planned for them and their families.”
The opportunity to drive through the Lakeshore Automotive Technology Center for photos is a new addition to graduation. The large space, located in the Nierode building, will allow for physical distancing. A backdrop will be provided for taking photos with family. Academic deans, leadership team members, and district board members will be congratulating students in person.
Several traditional activities will take place during the virtual event including remarks from Carlsen, a keynote address from LTC Foundation Board President Mike Mrdjenovich, congratulatory remarks from the chair of the LTC Board of Trustees, Roy Kluss, and a speech from Lakeshore student Gloria Elias. Elias, a Sheboygan resident, is graduating from the quality assurance program. Students had the opportunity to receive caps, gowns, honor medallions, honor society stoles, and military honor cords so they can dress in the traditional manner for the drive-through celebration or while viewing at home.
All buildings on Lakeshore’s Cleveland campus will be open from 11 am to 2 pm. Academic deans will be in their respective areas to congratulate students, who are welcome to take photos. The bookstore will also be open.
Individuals do not need to have a Facebook page to view the celebration on Lakeshore’s Facebook page. For those without a Facebook page, the college recommends using Google Chrome to view the video or viewing it from the college’s YouTube channel. For future viewing, a link will also be added to the college’s website at gotoltc.edu/Lets-Celebrate on Monday.
