Lakeshore Technical College Announces Plans for Fall Semester

CLEVELAND, WI —
With the spring semester still in progress, Lakeshore Technical College is preparing to welcome students back on campus this fall, adjusting scheduling and delivery methods to ensure students can continue moving forward on their education paths successfully, comfortably, and safely.
The college is transitioning fall courses to serve students both in-person and online through a flexible delivery model called “iFlex™.” Designed to fit a student’s life schedule, iFlex allows students to take courses online, face-to-face, or flex between the two. It gives students maximum flexibility in course delivery and scheduling. Students will be able to attend courses with a schedule that meets their needs, rather than the other way around.
“Prior to COVID-19, the college was planning for the expansion of flexible course delivery offerings, and COVID-19 is giving us good reason to finalize plans to roll these out on a larger scale for fall,” said Vice President of Instruction James Lemerond. “After transitioning 691 courses from in-person to online learning in two weeks last month, we are confident we can be ready for the fall so more students can benefit from the flexible advantages these delivery options offer.”
But as a technical college, there are some courses LTC cannot offer online. Examples include criminal justice-law enforcement, emergency medical technician (EMT), nursing, mechatronics technician apprenticeship, CNC technician/machine tool operation, electro-mechanical, and welding. These programs will continued to be offered in-person, on campus, due to assessment requirements following guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Providing all students with the resources they need to be successful, whether they are on campus or in their homes, is also a top priority for the college. For students in need of technology, such as a laptop or hotspot, they may contact the college for assistance. The college will continue loaning equipment so students are able to create a classroom in their homes. In addition, each student will have access to virtual services such as advising, counseling, tutoring, and other support services.
