Lakeshore Technical College Continues Operations During Pandemic

CLEVELAND, WI —
As fall semester quickly approaches, Lakeshore Technical College is open, running summer courses, supporting students, and preparing for the fall semester. In addition to offering a variety of in-person courses and support, the college will also offer online and iFLEX® course formats this fall to maximize individual student needs.
“We are excited yet cautious about bringing our campus back to a more normal level of activity,” said LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen. “The decisions were made to move forward with the safety of everyone in mind, and so all students can feel comfortable enrolling and attending classes with us.”
LTC’s fall term starts Monday, August 24 and will offer its complete student support services on campus and online, along with a more relaxed refund policy for fall. To encourage students to continue on their education paths, they will be able to receive a full tuition refund for courses dropped up to one week after the start for courses that run 15 weeks, and up to two days after the start for courses that run eight weeks or less. This will allow all students to “test drive” a course’s delivery format.
“Our students depend on us to deliver high quality, hands-on instruction in our state-of-the-art facilities. We have been doing this since 1912 and will continue to do so, while modifying our techniques as needed to provide a safe, comfortable learning environment for students and staff,” said Carlsen.
Fall courses will be taught in a variety of formats: in-person, online, iFlex®, and competency-based education (CBE). In-person instruction will follow all physical distancing protocols in place at LTC. With the pandemic situation remaining fluid, Carlsen says the college’s Incident Management Team continues meeting and monitoring local, state, and national sources of information for guidance. He says LTC will be prepared to adjust accordingly to meet the needs of students while ensuring a safe learning environment.
