CLEVELAND, WI —
The American Association of Community Colleges has awarded Lakeshore Technical College faculty member Julie Konik the 2023 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition. This marks the fifth year Lakeshore faculty have been recognized since the program was put into place six years ago.
Konik, a psychology instructor who holds a doctorate in psychology and women’s studies, will be recognized in a ceremony taking place April 4 in Denver.
Named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, the designation was established to recognize individuals making a difference in the college classroom.
“Julie is an exceptional instructor and leader on our campus. Feedback from her students confirms she is reaching her goal to have them grow both intellectually and psychologically throughout her courses,” said Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen. “Her open mind and intentional efforts to help them understand today’s world from a psychological angle help create a more understanding community in and out of the classroom.”
Konik joined Lakeshore in 2018 and has over 20 years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching, she coordinates the college’s therapy dog program, serves as co-chair for the diversity and inclusion committee, and is a member of the current Lakeshore Leadership Development Institute cohort. Konik was also highly involved in the development of Lakeshore’s new Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs.
Previously recognized faculty at Lakeshore include David Saunders, welding program coordinator/instructor, Paul Benfield, information technology network specialist instructor, Jeremy Pagel, sociology instructor, and Sarah Bornemann, information technology web and software developer instructor.
