CLEVELAND, WI —
Lakeshore Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay recently celebrated their partnership agreement allowing Lakeshore students who graduate with the college’s new Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree to enroll at UW-Green Bay with guaranteed junior standing.
The new degrees launched at Lakeshore in fall. They each require 60 credits including elective courses that allow students to select courses that appeal to their future career plans. Both degrees cover the general education requirements for a student whose goal is to transfer to a four-year college to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Students enrolling in the AA and AS degrees can access federal financial aid and veteran’s benefits.
“Thanks to our partnership with UW-Green Bay, our students and community have more options available to start on the path to their bachelor’s degree in an affordable manner close to home,” said Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen. “We appreciate Chancellor Alexander’s support for this valuable partnership that will help raise our region’s educational attainment rate.”
“We are proud to continue to develop our collaboration with Lakeshore Technical College,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. “Students rightfully expect institutions of higher education to work well together to create a more robust and direct transfer pathway between our institutions and further advocate for what students want in their education. Our partners at LTC are doing tremendous work and we are thrilled to be building a stronger educational ecosystem in Northeast Wisconsin with them.”
According to Carlsen, UW-Green Bay is a popular choice among the more than 400 students who transfer each year from Lakeshore to four-year colleges. He says students start on their path to a bachelor’s degree at Lakeshore not only because of the college’s affordability, but also its low faculty-to-student ratio, fewer distractions, and location close to students’ homes.
